Meet Our Alumni: MediNav
At VITA Accelerator we're proud to support a new generation of digital health startups, accelerating both Italian and foreign startups willing to do business in Italy in cooperation with key Italian and international operators, investors and corporates.
As we continued these efforts with our 2023 cohort, we are diving into each of our Alumni’s journeys, gaining insights into their transformative solutions, and how the acceleration program has helped take them to the next level. This time, we are sitting down with MediNav’s, Co-founder & CEO, Wanda Fiat.
MediNav delivers a cutting-edge software for generating structured medical reports from voice to hospitals and private practices to support them during their consultations and reduce their documentation burden by up to 70%. MediNav does this by listening, transcribing, and extracting the relevant medical information and pre-filling medical forms based on patient-doctor conversations.
How did your company come about and how do you envision your solution will change the current healthcare scenario?
I identified a problem while facing a chronic condition; most doctor’s appointments are focused on preparing documents instead of actually listening to the patient. The administrative burden on doctors is so high that on average, they spend half of their time as a sort of data clerk. Technology can help us drastically reduce that time which has become MediNav’s core purpose. As a secondary effect of solving this main problem, MediNav also enriches the quality of data and its granularity, thus enabling improved data for AI in medicine.
How were you able to take your company to the next level during the VITA Accelerator Program?
VITA has helped us take the first step into taking us international. We have already commercialized our product in Romania, but our goal is to enter the Italian market, among others. VITA provides us with the ecosystem connections, business tools and market knowhow to achieve this quickly and efficiently.
Could you highlight some significant milestones or connections made? Which program sessions or events have been most beneficial for your company?
We are especially happy with the ecosystem introductions, including those with hospitals and pharma companies, which provide us a first stepping ground into the Italian market. The events that took place during the acceleration really opened opportunities for us to pilot our product with Italian players, and we’re currently carrying out conversations with two private chains in Italy thanks to VITA.
At the same time, we validated a use case for our product in the pharma sector which will yield in a future POC. Frontiers Health was a great event, focused on key players in the market, and we made some great connections for business development.
What’s next for your company?
Besides focusing on internationalization, MediNav is looking to expand its product offering on the patient side as well. We cannot reveal more at the moment, but we plan to cover the whole patient journey both in and out of the hospital and provide the best and easiest to use data collection tool for patients and medical practitioners alike.
